Modeling Chocolate Chicken

The edible farm animal tutorials continue! The gingerbread icing sprinkle sheep, modeling chocolate pigs, and modeling chocolate cows were lonely. They needed some crazy chickens in the mix.

If you’re into making your own modeling chocolate, you can see my recipe here. Prefer to buy it? This is my favorite stuff on Amazon.

I started with a few balls of modeling chocolate. White, orange, red, and some googly eyes (white on black on white).

I shaped my balls into their respective body parts.

I started with the body, which is kind of shaped like a tear.

I used one of my Wilton tools to create a small indent in the bottom of it.

Then I placed it on top of my ball, which is serving as the lower half of the body.

I used one of my clay sculpting tools to put some indents between the two pieces.

I made the indents all around the edge.

Then I added one of the red parts to look like the wattle (had to look that word up).

For the other red part, I made some more indents with my clay sculpting tool.

I put the piece on the head for the comb (had to look that one up too).

Then I added some googly eyeballs.

I used my mini Wilton scissors for the orange part.

I cut a small slice through the middle to give the appearance of a mouth.

Then I used my clay sculpting tool to shape the mouth a bit.

I wanted it to have a bit more dimension.

I added the mouth under the eyes and over the wattle.

I made a two little wings (that I forgot to picture in the original photo).

With the addition of the wings, I had a cute little chicken!

Those eyes make him look a little crazy. I like it.
