Halloween is the best. My husband hates that I love decorating our house for Halloween. Granted, I go a little overboard, so he isn’t without reason. But I just LOVE Halloween!
Take these awesome Spider Web Lanterns for example. Really only one time a year that these are appropriate to display.
When I was originally planning my weeding, I liked the idea of having lanterns as part of my centerpieces. Long story short… I had zero lanterns present at my reception. I changed my mind so many times. However, I’d purchased a few in the planning process and I recently (2 years later) got around to doing something with them.
The ones I’d purchased were a little beat up. I knew they needed a makeover. I just wasn’t sure what kind of makeover. So, when fall rolled around and I started thinking ahead to Halloween decorations, I knew the lanterns would be perfect.
Materials:
Lanterns
Instructions:
Step 1: I started by cleaning them up and removing the glass panes.
Step 2: I removed the ropes attached to the tops of the lanterns.
Step 3: I set them up on some cardboard to spray them. I chose a black gloss.
Step 4: I sprayed a few thin layers of paint on the inside and outside of each lantern, making sure to get full coverage.
Step 5: I used some Windex to clean the glass panes and laid them out to be painted.
Step 6: I used my black paint pen to draw lines on the glass. I drew some diagonal lines that all crossed in the center.
Step 7: Then I started connected the lines with arched lines to create a spider web effect.
Step 8: Once the paint dried on the lanterns and panes, I put the panes back in and secured them.
Step 9: I displayed them on my mantel with some flickering candles inside. Creepy!
