Today’s post is a quick one. Another addition to the nursery that is finally finished! This great mirror that I found at a thrift store. It was gold when I originally bought it. Of course, I was so excited about it, I forgot to take pictures of the original and just started working on it immediately. I thought about keeping it gold since that is also one of my nursery colors, but it was a worn, ugly kind of gold that still would have needed some work. So I decided if I was going to do the work, I might as well make it the color I really wanted… white.
I started by covering the actual mirror. I used a combination of thick paper and painter’s tape to get in all the edges and make sure there would be no leakage. Then I dusted and cleaned all the crevices on the frame.
Once the frame was clean and the mirror covered, I used a spray primer to do one layer.
Once the primer was dry, I applied 2 layers of gloss white spray paint. Though I tried to spray as lightly as possible, the frame itself had a lot of little cracks that needed to be filled. So each layer ended up being fairly thick. I sprayed from a distance and changed up the angles as much as possible to avoid drips.
Once I had my desired look, I let everything dry. I gave it at least 24 hours before I removed the paper and painter’s tape.
I’m not going to lie… it sat finished in my garage for a few good months before I finally hung it in the nursery. I had most of my decor done long before I had anywhere to put it. The furniture took so long. The longer I put it off, the more pregnant and lazy I got, but I’m happy to report that the room is finished. I provided a few pictures of the final product below.
