So I bought a little baby pool from Amazon a few weeks ago. I thought it would be a great way to keep the nugget occupied. She loves water. Unfortunately, I still haven’t had the chance to fill it up and let her play. It’s just been too dang HOT!
I realize that me claiming that it’s too hot out to play in the pool is kind of ridiculous, but I’m totally serious. No amount of cold water can protect from that blazing sun, and we just don’t have enough shade in our yard. So my new purchase has been neglected. Until now…
I was on my way home from work the other day and I stopped at a local thrift store, as I often do. I generally loop through the furniture and housewares sections in search of project materials, but on this particular day I decided to browse the children’s toys. I don’t make it a habit of buying toys for my infant. She’s the only grandchild on both sides of the family so trust me when I tell you… she has enough toys. I’m not even sure what made me venture to a part of the store that I rarely visit. Let’s call it fate. For when I stepped over the threshold, I spotted a giant bag of colorful plastic balls and I knew I had to have them. My instant attraction was further intensified when I saw the price tag. Four dollars! Needless to say, I went home that day with about 200 new toys for my baby.
I knew my purchase was going to be perfect for the neglected baby pool. It’s a great way for the nugget to enjoy the pool without having to go outside. So I went about the sanitation routine.
First, I filled the sink up with warm, soapy water.
Then I took handfuls of the plastic balls and dunked them into said water.
I washed them as best I could and rinsed off the excess soap. Then I tossed them onto a beach towel and let them all dry.
Once they were dry, I separated them out. There were all sorts of different balls in the bag. Plenty of surprises.
I added the ones I wanted to the pool and created my awesome baby ball pit.
Then I surprised the nugget with her new playpen and posed her for all sorts of pictures.
She’s a very active baby and the pool itself doesn’t do much to contain her, but she sure does love it! It’s a fun, easy way to entertain. I put the pool right in the middle of our kitchen so she can play while I cook dinner. Perfect!
Still hoping to get to those fall projects soon. I picked up another little something at the thrift store the same day I got the plastic balls.
